The design team approached the design of this spacious two-bedroom apartment in St. Petersburg, Russia, with great care and attention to detail. Nestled on the top floor of a historic building, the space presented unique architectural features, including slanted ceilings and charming attic windows. The brief for this project was to create a contemporary interior that respectfully embraces the building’s Neoclassical architecture while catering to the client’s unique requirements. The family doesn’t live in the city but they often visit for work. Their dream was not having to stay in hotels any longer, but being able to enjoy the use of their own apartment, designed with their personal preferences in mind. The design team designed an open-plan living room filled with natural light, thanks to the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows.
This project is infused with artistic touches curated by Anna Agapova, where carefully selected artworks and bespoke design elements bring character and individuality to the space, transforming it into a true reflection of the client’s vision.
To highlight the heritage of the place, we crafted a bespoke fireplace that serves as a striking focal point in the room. The intricate geometry of the open-plan area called for simplicity in wall treatments: plain surfaces, clean lines, and a neutral light grey palette provide the perfect backdrop for the owners’ exquisite collection of paintings. These works, many displayed in opulent classic frames, add personality and sophistication to the space.
To infuse a modern edge, we introduced a stunning lighting installation by the renowned British company, Cameron Design House. The dramatic fixture adds a sculptural quality to the interior.

The standout element in the space is the kitchen island, crafted from raw stone with a striking blue volcanic lava countertop. This unique material subtly reflects the interior’s water-inspired theme, adding depth to the room.
The grey base of the island complements the stone used in the fireplace mantelpiece, creating a harmonious flow between the kitchen and living areas. This thoughtful design ties together the space, blending modern elegance with natural textures for a serene, cohesive atmosphere.

We created an ambiance of refined elegance by blending a rich color palette of deep navy tones and golden accents. Art plays a key role in this room, with highlights such as the bronze sculpture “The Nature of Love” by Shaun Stamp.

In the living room, all artworks are presented in traditional heavy golden frames, complementing the classic elegance of the space. However, in the bedroom, where the design is more modern, Anna Agapova chose a deep navy background to showcase contemporary artworks by Aidan Salakhova. Two pieces by Aidan transform the space, adding depth and a personal, emotional connection. Known for her minimalist yet powerful compositions exploring themes of femininity, spirituality, and identity, Salakhova’s works introduce a contemplative and poetic element, elevating the bedroom beyond mere design into a space of artistic expression.
