The design brief for this three-storey contemporary residence focused on creating a serene and minimalist aesthetic, with particular attention to the living and dining areas. The clients, a young family, envisioned a calming, tranquil, and airy design that would complement their lifestyle.
Led by Anna Agapova the design team embraced the challenge of crafting a ‘tranquil sanctum’ within the home. Early discussions revealed the family’s desire to reflect the stunning natural beauty of the local Devon area in their interiors. This vision translated into a palette inspired by the dreamy pastels of nearby sandy beaches and the soft greens of the cliffs and hilltops, bringing the essence of the surrounding landscape indoors.
The result is a harmonious and understated design that seamlessly blends modern minimalism with the tranquil beauty of nature, creating a space that offers both comfort and inspiration.
One of the most stunning features of the property are the fabulous and far-reaching views across the Jurassic Coast. The main goal was to open up the house to the outdoors and to let the living space become part of the spectacular landscape.
"We wanted to enhance the feeling that you’re in the privacy of your home, yet still connected to the landscape, a part of nature. Every element of the interior supports this idea. In the living room, we’ve included artwork from local galleries and many decorative glass pieces. My favourite is the CORAL glass bowl, a unique sculptural center piece by British artist Wayne Charmer."

A holiday home is a place where everyone should feel relaxed, hosts and guests alike. Naturally, entertaining is very important. With that in mind, Anna designed antique hand-crafted live edge dining table.
The key feature of the interior décor is the bespoke hand-crafted rug ‘Ocean’. The design was inspired by the sea and resembles the pattern left on the wet sand by receding waves. On a glass coffee table are art work by Samantha Donaldson.

A standout in the garden room is ‘Land and Sea,’ a bespoke installation by Celia Smith, crafted from birch twigs, wire, and 17 enamelled birds. Inspired by wildlife, Celia’s intricate, bird-themed art complements the serene atmosphere.

For the interior spaces directly connected to the outside, Anna selected soft shapes and colours. In contrast, the main hall features strong statement pieces made from dark wood, like the 'Orion' console by Liagre and 'Roe Benches' by CasteDesign. Complementing the interior are 'Float' wall lights. These are elegant cylindrical light fixtures literally floating with character.
On the console sits a work by British artist Roger Hardy, known for his figurative sculptures made from found elements like wood from boatyards and river estuaries. Hardy’s works, shaped by natural degradation, reveal the essence of the human form, taking on a timeless, totemic quality. His pieces invite viewers to project their own emotions, reflecting the human condition.
